Our 60-Year Philosophy: One Client At A Time.

Ryan Roach & Ryan, LLP's, founder, William J. Ryan, was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy on August 31, 1946. Ten days later he enrolled at Sienna College on the G.I. Bill and, for the next few years, juggled full-time college and work. Bill graduated from St. John's University Law School in May 1952 and soon after opened a full-time law office at 239 Wall Street in uptown Kingston, NY. In 1962, Bill moved to 101 Green Street, and then to a renovated historic building at 115 Green Street where the firm has been for the last 40 years.

Bill developed lasting relationships with his clients using a simple philosophy: one client at a time. One of Bill's earliest clients was a local landowner whose property was taken by the state through eminent domain for the New York State Thruway. We still represent the landowner to this day. Loyal clients returned and referred new clients. Bill's reputation was exemplary, and the seeds of an extraordinary law practice were sown.

By the mid-1960's, Bill's practice continued to grow, and he began hiring to keep up with the demand. Dozens of clients became hundreds, then thousands. What began as a one-attorney office became a full-service general practice firm with a group of experienced lawyers and a skilled support staff. Through all the years and growth, the firm philosophy has remained constant: one client at a time.

Like so many of the attorneys he hired into his law practice, Bill was an active community volunteer, serving on the boards of the Benedictine Hospital, the Ulster County Chamber of Commerce, and the Ulster County Bar Association. Bill's son William J. Ryan, Jr., is now the senior partner at the firm and assumes the legacy begun by his father more than 60 years ago.
